Chinwe John, MD is a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist [a Physiatrist].
Chinwe John, MD received her medical degree from the College of Medicine University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1998. After a preliminary Medicine internship at Graduate hospital Philadelphia, she completed her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Hospital, New York in 2006. Dr. John went on to obtain Board Certification in both PM&R, and Neuromuscular medicine.
She is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). She has served as an examiner for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR), and mentored future physicians by participating in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine.
Professionally, Dr. Chinwe John worked from 2007-2013, at a multi-speciality surgical group in Northern Virginia, where she treated musculoskeletal and neurological disorders in both children and adults. She was awarded a Washingtonian Magazine “Top Doctor” award in 2012. Since 2013, she has worked in Acute Rehabilitation facilities around the country, and spent a year working with mostly the elderly at a Sub-acute rehabilitation facility. In both the acute and subacute rehabilitation settings, Dr. John has managed patients with Traumatic Brain Injury; Stroke; post-surgery rehabilitation; Deconditioning in patients following conditions such as Heart failure and Pneumonia; Dementia; Cancer related impairments; Parkinson’s disease; and a wide range of medical conditions with neurological and functional sequelae.
